God is Soooo Good!

On October 19th we had our second great visit out at Commonwealth Lodge in Elizabethtown! We had an awesome group from our church. This time we served chili, hot dogs, hamburgers and an array of other food. Carmen Adwell's Sunday school really came through on the food! God was good and brought out a good crowd from Commonwealth and the surrounding motels. We had a great time getting to know people and sharing the love of Jesus Christ. It's amazing what God does when we just go! This time I took a lot of pictures, they speak for themselves.

Jesus called out to them, "Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!"

Sunday Afternoon Widen the Circle

God has blessed this ministry in so many ways, it is unbelievable. He has opened doors and worked in people's hearts the way only He can! We went on September 20th and canvased 3 of the hotels and got a huge response, much bigger then we expected. It was so exciting to get to talk to so many people face to face. We had a few that said they had already filled out the registration forms! (I had dropped registration forms of at the front desks earlier in the week). People were friendly and seemed excited about getting together for a time of fellowship. We couldn't have been more excited about the response. At that point I started to get a little anxious about whether we were prepared enough and had enough people on our ministry team. Of course God always works these things out and He really out did Himself this time! He provided plenty of people and plenty of food. It was an awesome time of sharing with them about what the Lord has done for us and listening to their stories. God's presence was so evident in the Commonwealth Lodge that day! Pray for God's power in this ministry and that we continue to see His great work each time we go out there so that those we minister to may know His saving power! Pray also for spiritual growth for us from Severns Valley. Pray that God gives us insight, understanding, and the right heart to minister in the best way possible.

It Started as a Local Summer Outreach Project......

This Summer our church ventured out into the community to host on site backyard bible school. We went to two locations, Ponderosa Mobile Home park and Elizabethtown Motel. I served at Elizabethtown Motel and had the privilege of getting to hang out with the cool kids in this picture and several others for a few hours a day for almost a week. It was truly an awesome experience and you could feel God's hand on this project. He brought together a team that wanted to be there and wanted to see his will done in this area of our town.

The back yard bible schools were awesome but that is not where this story ends! God lead people to this mission project that want to see these areas ministered to further. We are embarking on an exciting new mission project where we are going to go to the Commonwealth lodge once a month and hold a relaxed church service. We will have activities for the kids, a speaker for the adults, food, and fellowship. Pray for this ministry, and the people who will be ministered to. Pray for God to ready their hearts. Pray for us at Severn's Valley, that we will keep this vision and we will do the good works God has prepared in advance for us to do!!
